Pulmonary Embolism

Pulmonary embolism is a blood clot that becomes dislodged from any blood vessel in the body and travel to the lungs.  It is important to be able to diagnose this right away and control the embolism.  If not treated timely and properly, death can occur.  This is where our pulmonary embolism response team (PERT) comes in.

To address this serious health risk, the PERT team brings together experts from a variety of subspecialties to evaluate pulmonary embolism patients and provide them with rapid and accurate diagnosis and treatment .  Our patients benefit from this unique, state-of-the-art team approach that brings together vascular surgeons, cardiologists, pulmonologists, interventional radiologists, and cardiothoracic surgeons.  Together we have developed a treatment strategy to effectively treat pulmonary embolism in the most minimally invasive way.
