Pacemaker Insertion and Monitoring

Dr. Erlebacher and patient

You may need a pacemaker if your heart has problems with slow electrical conduction, meaning that your heart slows to a dangerous rate. A pacemaker is a small electronic device that tells your heart to beat if it slows down too much. It’s usually placed in your chest, just under the collarbone.

Pacemakers may be inserted as an outpatient procedure or as part of a stay in the hospital. At Englewood Cardiology Consultants, you’ll see your cardiologist — not a pacemaker company representative — for follow-up after the procedure. We also offer at-home pacemaker monitoring.
