Botox® Injections for Dystonia

Dystonia is a movement disorder that causes persistent or sporadic involuntary muscle contractions. These contractions are often painful and may cause repetitive movements or abnormal postures.

We use Botox injections to treat dystonia. They work by blocking signals sent from your nerves to your muscles, causing temporary muscle paralysis or relaxation. They may be used to treat torticollis (latin for “twisted neck”), hemifacial spasm, blepharospasm, spasticity, and cervical dystonia. We typically give injections every three months.
