About Shamila Zawahir
Dr. Zawahir is board certified in pediatric gastroenterology. She diagnoses and treats children of all ages with gastrointestinal disorders. Her clinical interests include celiac disease, chronic abdominal pain, constipation, gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome, nutritional disorders, food allergies, and reflux. She received her MBBS from Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai, India, followed by her general pediatrics residency at Harlem Hospital Center (an affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons), where she was chief resident, and a pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition fellowship at University of Maryland Children's Hospital. She is a co-author of several book chapters and scientific publications on gastrointestinal disorders in children and was an assistant professor of pediatrics at University of Maryland School of Medicine.
