About Elaine Cong
Dr. Cong is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism, and internal medicine. She received her MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine internship and residency training at Yale New Haven Hospital, followed by a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.
During medical school, Dr. Cong received the Edward Weinstein Award for Outstanding Scholarship and Human Commitment. During her fellowship, she received the Endocrine Fellows Foundation Research Grant to investigate problems of thinking and memory in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism, a metabolic bone disease. She has presented at national academic conferences and authored peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Cong evaluates and treats patients with thyroid conditions (including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer), metabolic bone disease (including osteoporosis and primary hyperparathyroidism), pituitary and adrenal gland disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and diabetes.
Dr. Cong is also a certified clinical densitometrist and has received the Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU) for performing neck ultrasound and ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration to evaluate patients with thyroid and parathyroid disorders. She is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the Endocrine Society, the American Thyroid Association, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians. She is conversational in Mandarin Chinese.
