Primary Care

The Leonia Medical Associates team of physicians and providers is able to offer you an exceptionally wide range of health care services right in Bergen County.

Our internal medicine physicians are trained to offer primary care to men and women 18 years and older, while our family practice physicians treat patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, and are generalists who can treat a wide spectrum of conditions.

Annual Wellness Visits

Our complete, yearly physical examinations include preventive screening tests for heart disease, cancer, and other conditions.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Conditions

Our practice will help you manage ongoing health problems, like high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), thyroid disease, depression, and anxiety.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Acute Ailments

When you experience symptoms of illness that are strong or severe, we can diagnose and treat you for a range of the most common causes, including the flu, strep throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, and back pain.

Anticoagulation Monitoring

Anticoagulants are medications that reduce or prevent blood clots from forming. Two common examples are heparin and warfarin. We prescribe these drugs to patients with certain heart conditions or blood disorders. The dosage varies by patient, so we will monitor you through a series of blood tests to find the dosage that works best for you.

Chest Radiography (Chest X-Ray)

We can perform digital chest X-rays in our office. We use this test to diagnose pneumonia, congestive heart failure, collapsed lungs, and tumors.

Electrocardiogram

Often called an “EKG” or “ECG” for short, an electrocardiogram measures your heart’s electrical activity. It can reveal signs of heart disease and help predict a heart attack or confirm that a heart attack has occurred. The test is quick and painless.

Preoperative Medical Consultation

Surgery is a big step for any patient, so we offer a consultation before any surgical procedure so you feel ready. We will provide information about your surgery and what to expect after.

Pulmonary Function Tests

These three breathing tests tell us how well your lungs work. We use the tests to diagnose asthma, COPD, and other lung disorders.

Rapid Diagnostic Tests

Sometimes we can give you a test right in our office to confirm when you have flu, strep throat, or a urinary tract infection. Examples of these convenient tests are throat swabs, urine analysis, and finger-stick blood testing.
