The current COVID-19 pandemic has upended daily life for many of us. But our commitment to your health and well-being has never been greater. To help support you and your family during these unprecedented times, we are pleased to announce that we are now offering telemedicine visits at many of our practices in the Englewood Health Physician Network.
A telemedicine visit with us is easy and convenient. You’ll have a chance to speak with your doctor, nurse practitioner, social worker or other provider in the comfort and safety of your own home over a secure video chat on your computer or phone. You do not need to enroll in any special service or pay anything beyond your normal copayment, coinsurance, and deductible.
In line with the CDC’s guidance on social distancing and self-quarantining, we do not want you to leave your house or be in a group setting if it’s not necessary. We do, however, want to get you the care you need, when you need it.
A telemedicine visit may be appropriate if you are concerned about COVID-19 symptoms as well as for many types of routine care. Below are some frequently asked questions about our telemedicine service. At this time, not all of the practices in our network are offering this option, so please call your doctor’s office directly to find out about options for telemedicine visits.
How do telemedicine visits work?
Telemedicine visits with a doctor from the Englewood Health Physician Network are easy and convenient. You’ll have a chance to speak with your doctor in the comfort and safety of your own home over a secure video chat on your computer or phone. You do not need to enroll in any special service or purchase a subscription, unlike many other telemedicine options.
Who conducts the telemedicine visits?
The same doctor or provider who you normally see in the office. However, not all doctors in the Englewood Health Physician Network are offering telemedicine visits at this time. Call your doctor’s office to find out if they are offering these.
Do I need to be a current patient?
No, we are accepting new patients. Need a doctor? Find one now.
What types of conditions/illnesses can be handled by a telemedicine visit?
In addition to COVID questions, a telemedicine visit could cover new symptoms, a change in a current condition, or questions about medications. You could review your blood sugars and your diabetes care. You could see where you stand regarding your preventive care and vaccinations. Specialists can see how you are doing with their area of expertise. Surgeons could get a look at how you are healing or at a new wound. And behavioral health providers could do medicine checks and counseling via telemedicine.
Do I need any special software?
You need an internet connection and a computer or mobile device with a microphone, video camera, and speakers (most devices have these components). Visits can be conducted from your phone, tablet/iPad, or personal computer/laptop. The doctor’s office staff will email you a weblink for you to log on for your visit, along with more instructions. The system uses the Zoom platform, so you may already be familiar with this tool.
How is it billed?
Due to the pandemic, Medicare and many insurance companies have recently expanded their coverage for telemedicine visits. Contact your insurance company to confirm your coverage. Visits will be billed like a standard visit, and you will receive a statement for your portion of the fee.
How do I schedule a telemedicine visit?
At this time, you must call your doctor’s office to schedule a telemedicine visit. Not all doctors in our network are offering these types of visits. The office staff will let you know if your doctor is available for a telemedicine visit.
